The Osteopathic Clinic has been operating in Tauranga for over 30 years, during which time it has grown in size and reputation through the quality of care offered by its practitioners.
All practitioners are registered Osteopaths and conform to the Code of Ethics and practice. They have completed a minimum of four years full time training. Our practitioners can process ACC claims and provide treatment without requiring a GP referral. Some medical insurance policies cover osteopathic treatment.
An osteopathic consultation involves a detailed case history, and a physical examination involving palpation and testing of joint motion. Osteopathic treatment uses a range of soft tissue and manipulative techniques applied to the muscles, ligaments and joints. The selection of techniques depends on what the practitioner feels is most appropriate, and will be discussed with you.
Treatment includes advice on posture and exercise, with recommendations on how to minimise the likelihood of recurrence.

WE BELIEVE
- That an osteopathic treatment should be a pleasant experience performed in a relaxing environment by well qualified practitioners who carefully assess and explain the methods of therapy.
- That patients should share responsibility for their own well being. We emphasise education, self help techniques and exercises as part of the treatment plan.
- In order to achieve the best possible health care for our patients we like to work in conjunction with GPs, specialists and other health care providers.
- The body is a marvellous structure that operates as a functional unit. We treat the body as a whole, balancing its structure and function, in addition to treating the injured part.
- The body has a natural mechanism of self healing. We believe in working with and enhancing the ability of the body to self heal.
- Advancing age does not have to be a painful experience. Arthritic or degenerative joints respond well to an osteopathic approach.
- Many injuries are being caused by poor posture in poorly designed workplaces. We are pleased to be able to offer a full work place assessment service to help provide optimum working environments. We can make recommendations regarding chairs, desks and any ergonomic accessories required.·
- Research is showing that specific exercise programmes can be very helpful for chronic or recurrent injuries. We have developed good facilities and expertise to advise and teach these programmes
- We can assist with advice on beds, pillows and sleeping posture.
- We can advise on shoe insoles and can custom make heat moulded Formthotics
